Reasons of war

War is a state of armed conflict between states, societies, governments and informal paramilitary. It is a situation or a period of fighting between countries and groups of people. It generally involves the use of weapons, soldiers and military organization. War is a situation in which a nation by using force enforces its rights. Every armed conflict is not a war. War typically fought by a country or group of countries. It is fought against an opposing country with the aim of achieving an objective through the use of force. It has been a part of human history for thousands of years. We oftenly referred war as armed conflict between two groups or countries.

War has very negative impact on economy, environment and social behavior of people. The biggest disadvantage of war is it destroys the economy of the region. The cost of the war is too high. Weapons and ammunition used for war are very expensive later on it becomes very difficult to recover it. War cause the infrastructure damage of the country as well which needs to be rebuilt after the war is over. During war many animals got died. And the weapons used for war are very harmful for environment. Mothers lost their sons in war. It takes decades to recover from the social and psychological effects of war.

There are some following reasons of war:

Defensive war

Defensive war is a war in which one country trying to defend itself from another. In defensive war both side trying to invade and conquer each other. This war is especially controversial, the argument essential being that is we are attacking them before they inevitably attack us. They use the statement that they are defending themselves and keep fighting. The historical example of defensive war is cold war, which fought from 1947 – 1991.





Civil war

Civil war is a war between organized groups within the same state or country. In this war aim of one group is to take control of the country or a region, to change government policies or to achieve independence for a region. This war can also be sparked by separatist groups who want to form their own, independent country. Historical examples of civil war are: American civil war (186 – 1865), Russian civil war (1917 – 1923), Spanish civil war (1936 – 1939), Korean war (1950 – 1953).

Nationalism

Nationalism means attempt to prove that our country is superior to another by violent subjugation. This oftenly takes the form of an invasion. It is the social, economic, political promotion of the interests of a particular nation, especially with the aim of gaining and maintaining the nation’s sovereignty over its homeland. Everyone should love their country but being possessive for country and attempts to prove their country stronger with the use of weapons is wrong. Historical examples of wars fought for nationalism are Chichimeca war (1550 – 1590), World war 1 (1914 – 1918).

Revolutionary war

If we talk about revolution then it is a fundamental and relatively sudden change in political power and political organization which occurs when the population revolts against the government, typically due to social, economic and political reason. Revolutionary war occurs when a large section of the population of a country revolts against the individual or groups that rules the country because they are dissatisfied with their leadership. There are many reasons of revolutionary war like injustice committed by the ruling group, economic hardship etc. revolutionary war can easily changed into civil wars. Historical examples of revolutionary wars are Portuguese Restoration War (1640 – 1668), American Revolution (1775 – 1783), French Revolution (1789 – 1799), Haitian Revolution (1791 – 1804).

Religion

A religious war caused by differences in religion. Violence is universally undesirable. But there is a universal tension between the general desire to avoid violence and the acceptance of justifiable uses of violence to prevent a greater evil. Religion is a problematic and complex concept. Religious war oftenly have very deep roots. They can lie for decades. It is oftenly tied to other reasons for conflict, such as nationalism or revenge. Different religions fighting against each other which further cause war. Examples of wars fought for religion are The Crusades (1095 – 1291), Thirty Years War (1618 – 1648), Lebanese Civil War (1975 – 1990), Yugoslav Wars (1991 – 1995).

Revenge

It is the political manifestation of the will to reverse territorial losses incurred by a country. It oftenly following a war or social movement. Revenge is the worst thing which further causes wars. Unfortunately revenge can lead to an endless chain of retaliatory wars being set in motion which is very difficult to stop. Revenge has been a factor in many European wars. Historical examples of wars fought for revenge are World War 2 (1939 – 1945) and war on terror on 11th of September on the World Trade Center in 2001.



Economic gain

Economic gain is the major cause of wars. Every country wishes to take control of another country’s wealth. Economic gain wars keep going on from many last decades. In these times the resources that are hoped to be gained form war take the form of things like oil, minerals or materials used in manufacturing. Every country wants to be the most powerful country in the world and wants to rule on world, that is why all the countries are in the race of economical gain from other countries. Historical examples of wars fought for economic gain are Anglo-Indian Wars (1766 – 1849) fought between the British East India Company and different Indian states and Finnish-Soviet War or “The Winter War” (1939 – 1940).

Territorial gain

To get the territorial gain is also the reason of war. Every country seeking for more land either for living space, agricultural use or other purposes. This territory can also be used as buffer zones between two hostile enemies. Buffer zones are proxy wars. Every country wants ownership on more land which further causes war. Historical examples of war fought for territorial gain are Mexican-American War (1846 – 1848), Serbo-Bulgarian War (1885 – 1886) it was fought between Bulgaria and Serbia fought over a small border town after the river creating the border between the countries moved. Arab-Israeli War or “Six Day War” (1967 – 1988),in this war Israeli forces took the territories of the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, from Jordan.
