ChatGPT is becoming part of more Indian offices since its launch in 2023 and it seems the time spent on the AI chatbot has also gone up.
ChatGPT made its debut in 2022 and the AI market has blown to a large extent since then. Indians have been slow to adopt the AI chatbot for their use cases but a new report suggests ChatGPT is now part of more than 90 percent Indian offices who are relying on the AI chatbot for their work.
We continue to hear how India Inc is ready to invest billions into bringing AI tools to its operations and the latest data provided by DeskTime seems to hint that the workforce is more than equipped to tackle the transition to AI tools.
The ticket size of the time tracking done by the platform includes 297 companies with over 14000 employees. So, you could say the proportion of people using AI tools like ChatGPT has steadily gone up, giving companies more reason to upskill and upgrade their workforce.
The data collected from these companies range from January 2023 to March 2024. ChatGPT was introduced in late 2022 so the pace of adoption seems quite good, with many more expected to lap up ChatGPT and other AI tools to optimise their work and do it efficiently.
DeskTime also claims that Indians are leading the way for adopting AI tools for their productivity but this is just the start for the transition that brings its own challenges.
The same report highlights that as of March 2024, more than 40 percent of the Indian workforce is using ChatGPT actively without sharing details about what is their prime use case. The AI chatbot offers a gamut of features, from basic queries to complex prompts. People who are getting left behind will need to upgrade their skills and train in these tools so that more companies find available workforce ready to be part of the AI shift.
Tech giants like Google and Meta have already shown the way by laying off employees and replacing them with AI but there is still a large part of the industry that can co-exist with the advancement of AI in the years to come.
It is fascinating to see AI become a core part of people’s work setup but we still wait for the hardware to match up to these advanced AI models. Intel, Apple and Qualcomm are doing their bit for the AI PC evolution while Google, Apple and Meta build mobile use cases for AI on the pocket-friendly hardware.
Apple is also tying up with OpenAI to bring ChatGPT to macOS, and iPhones. The AI chatbot was recently exposing all the chats of macOS users in plain text but the latest update has fixed the issue.
