Tech tips: How to easily enable Wi-Fi calling on iPhone, Android phone

Often, we struggle with low to almost no network cellular signal in some areas of our offices or at our homes, particularly if the home happens to somewhere close to the top of an apartment building. To get the signal in these dead spots we wave and swing our phones while talking on them, or while waiting for an OTP. The solution to this problem is, however, simple. In places where the cellular signal is bad use Wi-Fi is that is available. And in most cases it is available. The feature is Wi-Fi calling.

So, if you find yourself struggling with the mobile network but have access to Wi-Fi then you actually don’t require strong cellular network for calling.

And no, I’m not talking about calling via WhatsApp, Messenger or any third-party app. I am talking about the Wi-Fi calling feature which almost all smartphones have. Wi-Fi calling enables users to dial calls from the same number using an internet connection.

When you connect through a call using Wi-Fi, the people receiving the call or texts will see it coming from your cellular number. Additionally, Wi-Fi calling offers improved call quality, saves your phone’s battery — weak cell signals result in more battery consumption and even rescue you when you struggle to find network connectivity.

So, if you are struggling to get a signal in your home or office then switch to Wi-Fi calling for clear and high-quality voice calls. Let’s take a look at how you can enable the Wi-Fi calling feature in your Android or iOS phones.
