Bad breath is the common problem now these days. Sometimes bad breath makes us feel hesitated. It is very unpleasant situation at a first date or a job interview. It is a myth that bad breath originates in the mouth and ends there. But it can be caused by different conditions in the tongue, nose, gums, stomach and even some systemic diseases. As we know many of us are not aware that with which type of doctor we need to approach. Many people suffer in silence and putt off going to a doctor. Some believe in simple brushing and flossing routine to keep bad breath at bay.
HOME REMEDIES FOR BAD BREATH
Activated Charcoal
Activated charcoal absorbs the impurities of your mouth and kills harmful bacteria. It is good for whitening your teeth.
You just need ½ teaspoon of activated charcoal and toothbrush. Brush your teeth with activated charcoal and rinse your mouth thoroughly to remove all the charcoal. You can use it 2-3 times in a week until your bad breath problem gets cured.
Coconut Oil
To keep the mouth healthy and bacteria free coconut oil swishing is a popular technique. Because coconut oil has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties.
You just need one tablespoon of virgin coconut oil. Swish it around your mouth for 5-10 minutes. And then to rinse it use lukewarm water. Use this technique daily until your bad breath has gone.
Fennel Seeds
Fennel seeds are mostly used by number of people to cure bad breath. It helps to freshens your breath and also takes care of any infections that may be causing bad breath.
You just need 1 tablespoon of fennel seeds, chew it and ingest them. You can chew it daily or when it is required.
Ginger
Ginger has antimicrobial properties which help to eliminate bad odor as well as different types of oral and throat infections.
You just need 1 teaspoon of ginger juice and 1 cup of warm water. Add this ginger juice to cup of warm water and rinse your mouth daily with it.
Green Tea
If you really want to get rid from bad breath then start having green tea in morning instead of tea or coffee. Green tea contains phytochemicals which are naturally antibacterial and will wash away and eliminate odor causing bacteria.
You just need 1 green tea bag, 1 cup of hot water and honey. Steep your green tea bag in water for 5-10 minutes and add honey according to taste. Take 1-3 cups on daily basis.
Grapefruit seed extract
This seed extract deodorizes the mouth and also eliminates any bacteria.
You just need 1-2 drops of grapefruit seed extract. Put it on your toothbrush and rub it on your teeth. Rinse it with clean water and repeat it daily you will see difference in a week.
Baking Soda and Lemon Juice
Baking soda help to balance the pH levels in the mouth and bring down the acidity as it is a natural antacid. Lemon juice contains antibacterial properties so this remedy makes a potent combination to remove bad breath.
You just need 1 teaspoon of baking soda and ½ teaspoon lemon juice. Mix these ingredients well and make a paste and rub it on your teeth. Repeat this once in a week.
Do not use this in excess because baking soda can damage the tooth enamel.
Salt Water
As we know salt is antimicrobial in nature so it helps to neutralize the mouth’s PH and cleanses it as well.
You just need 1 teaspoon of salt and one glass of lukewarm water. Mix it well and use it for gargle. Repeat this activity once or twice in a day.
Guava
As we know guava is good for gums diseases. It is enriched with vitamin C, tannic acid, malic acid. It is the best remedy for bleeding, bad breath and sensitive teeth. This is the best fruit to improve overall oral health.
You just need unripe guava. Eat it anytime during the day. You can sprinkle black salt on it for taste. Eat guavas few days in a week.
Cardamom
From many decades cardamom has been used in India after meals. It works as freshener for your mouth and reduce the bad breath by acting as a deodorizer. It help to mask the bad odor with its fragrance.
You just need 1 cardamom pod. Chew it as a whole or peel it and chew its seeds present inside. You can ingest the chewed pod. Whenever you had a meal with garlic or onion after that you can take cardamom because garlic and onion cause hard smell.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon possesses antimicrobial properties that will disinfect and cleanse your mouth. Lemon also contains acids that have a bactericidal effect on the oral flora. It balances the Ph in mouth.
You just need 2 tablespoon of cinnamon powder and 1-2 tablespoon of honey, 2 lemons and a cup of hot water. Mix these all ingredients well and use 1-2 tablespoons of this blend to rinse your mouth after you brush your teeth. Rinse your mouth with plain water.
Hydrogen peroxide
Hydrogen peroxide is a potent antimicrobial solution which is helpful to easily get rid of from bad breath caused by bacteria.
You just need 1 tablespoon of hydrogen peroxide and ½ cup of water. Dilute the hydrogen peroxide in water and rinse your mouth with help of this. Now gently brush your teeth, gums and tongue to remove all residue. Rinse your mouth with plain water.
Do this in morning after brushing. Do not use it on daily basis as hydrogen peroxide can damage the teeth and gums on excessive exposure.
Apple Cider Vinegar
As we know apple is the treatment for all problems that is why it has been said “eat an apple a day, keeps the doctor away”. For bad breath you can mix 2 teaspoons of apple cider vinegar with ¼ cup of water. Swish it around in your mouth for 15 to 20 seconds and then spit it out.
