Google is taking its AI-powered productivity tools to the next level for mobile users with its updated Google Workspace suite. The company is set to roll out a range of new AI features, enabled by the powerful PaLM 2 family of models, to enhance users’ productivity and streamline their workflows. These features are bundled under the banner of Duet AI for Google Workspace and aim to help users create, organise, visualise, and accelerate their work processes.
On Gmail mobile, Duet AI will help enhance your emails with contextual assistance that’ll allow you to create professional replies that fill in names and other relevant information automatically. Google also suggests it’s working on features that’ll let you generate entire emails using simple prompts.
On Docs, Duet AI will help you generate content from scratch. You can enter a topic you’d like to talk about and a draft will be produced for it instantly, including smart chips for information like location and status. Meanwhile, for users generating their own content, Docs will include new upgraded neural models that check grammar, proofread, adjust tones, and suggest styles. These features will cover not just English, but Spanish, French, Japanese, and other languages.
On Slides, Duet AI will generate images using prompts, letting you embed images that aren’t present on the internet into your presentations.
On Sheets, Duet AI will automate data classification and the creation of custom plans. New classification tools will understand the context of data in a cell and assign a label to it, saving you time that’ll otherwise be spent on manual data entry. Sheets will also include tools to help you create custom plans for tasks and projects using simple words as prompts. Simply describe what you are trying to accomplish and Sheets will generate a plan for you accordingly.

On Meet, Duet AI will help you generate unique backgrounds for your video calls, helping “users express themselves and deepen connections during video calls while protecting the privacy of their surroundings.”
Google is already rolling out these features to trusted testers via its Workspace Labs program, enabling the company to experiment and refine its offerings based on feedback from early adopters.
