They are known for offering employees a balance between professional and personal life with career development and growth.
With the aim of landing a job in these leading tech companies, people prepare for years. And to help the new aspiring candidates, Amazon Web Services CEO Adam Selipsky recently shared qualities that he looks for in candidates while hiring for his team.
In a recent interview with Fortune Magazine, Selipsky revealed that he likes candidates who are “restless and dissatisfied”. Adam explains that he looks for these traits in his prospective team members because if someone is not dissatisfied with things, they will not have the zeal to innovate. “We find people who want to be on a mission, who are restless and dissatisfied with what they see around them, who are curious about how the world works and how it can work,” he said.
Selispy shares that after recruiting the ideal candidates, he fosters an environment within the team to let them build their innovation freely and focus on their mission. “We take constraints out of their way and try to remove as many dependencies as we can from them, so they’re free in a single-minded way to focus on their mission,” he added.
While traits like “restlessness and dissatisfaction” are often considered undesirable, AWS CEO believes that after giving time and the environment to unsatisfied minds, “good and delightful things” can happen.
Further giving advice to the younger mind to always improve and sharpen their skills and find a passion while surrounding themselves with the right people. Right to say the environment always impacts one’s personality and skills build it further. In addition, Selipsky asks aspirants to build the right reputation as this can further affirm the reliability and honesty of the candidates.
